Darren: Darren and his bagpipes
Darren is a bagpiper from South Dakota. Born in London, England in 1969, the pipes have been woven into Darren’s Rromani heritage throughout his life. He realized his life-long dream of playing the pipes in 2005 when he found Jack Knowles, (Past Conductor /Black Hills Symphony Orchestra) and began on his voyage. If you are interested in having Darren play at your event, contact him to coordinate. Darren resides outside of Rapid City, SD and usually plays in the western South Dakota area, but has traveled to many events specifically to play.
In 2006, he opened for two large events: the Vietnam War Memorial in Pierre, South Dakota, and at the Oklahoma City National Monument. In addition, he attended Police Week in Washington D.C. In 2007, he played for the 7th Calvary at the Korean War Memorial, and he also played at the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. In addition, he frequently plays at the National Cemetery outside Sturgis, SD.
Darren had been a speaker for numerous school functions in the elementary setting as well as playing at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for cultural days annually.
